Absolutely! I have seen this many times with veterinarians. I grew up in the veterinary field, watching my dad perform surgery, birth puppies, etc. I helped him build the practice (literally-at age 12 I helped insulate the walls and shingle the roof). I managed his practice for years and now own it. Many of our clients and patients become family, and losing these patients is very hard. Especially with a chronic illness, the doctors become attached to the patient, and also the pet owner. We know this is the end of suffering, and we know how losing their furry family member will affect the whole family. One year, we lost so many long-term patients I brought in a grief counselor for our whole team.
