We are extremely proud of our caring, skilled, and enthusiastic veterinary team! We’ve combined our diverse experiences, formal education, dedication, and love for animals into a cohesive veterinary team. In order to best serve your pet, we are cross-trained to perform various functions throughout the hospital.

Ken Hughs, D.V.M.

Dr. Hughs grew up in the Portland metro area raising bunnies and being involved with 4H which led to his love of animals and into his career as a veterinarian. He graduated from Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. After several years working with both cats and dogs, he opened Cats Exclusive Medical Center in 1998, one of the first Gold Certified Cat-Friendly Practices. 

In 2016, Dr. Hughs joined forces with Dogwood Pet Hospital,  not only bringing his extensive knowledge of feline health care, but also his compassion and dedication,  providing your pet, both feline and canine, with the best care possible. 

Dr. Hughs treats your pets as if they were his own. He understands that pets are part of your family and an important part of your life! 

When Dr. Hughs isn’t in the clinic, he is  relaxing at home with his family and their 2 cats and 2 dogs. He has a love of traveling around the world and collecting vintage Christmas items.
