This is strictly the pet owner’s decision. We can’t force you. We can make the recommendation when we think there is no quality of life, but ultimately only you can judge how your pet is doing at home.
This is a hard decision for most people. It is time for euthanasia when you are keeping your pet going for you, not for your pet.
Most veterinary practices are prepared to counsel you. If we aren’t current with your pet’s condition, schedule an examination, at which time we can assess the situation and talk with you further. If we are currently addressing health problems, just ask to speak with any of us in private.
